Where do you buy your whey and at what cost??

ON gold. Chocolate. Costco. Something like 90 servings for $60.

Grocery outlet has ON gold banana cream at $25 for 63 servings. Might try that out.

I've been buying NOW unflavored for ~$43 per 5lb bucket. Sounds like My Protein is the whey to be.

ETA: @Manveer is that price for myprotein a constant or is it discounted randomly? I'm seeing ~$9/lb.

Concentrate versus isolate.

Depends on the flavor for MyProtein, but they have discounts going on all the time. I'm seeing $6-7.50/lb on the website right now depending on flavor selection.

Also, unless you LOVE the a particular flavor, I'd advise against the 5.5lb bags they sell even if the price seems great. I ordered a 0.55lb bag of mocha and another of rocky road, and I was excited AF when they accidentally sent me a 5.5lb bag of the rocky road. Their mistake is my gain! Yeah, well it's been two months now and I'm absolutely sick of the rocky road flavor. I want to puke every time I drink it.

Just in case you don't see my edit above, don't buy the 5lb bags.

May vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, but isolate tends to make 'thinner' shakes. Isolate also seems to be make a chalkier tasting shake at least with the one flavor I got from Myprotein. But I haven't had concentrate from Myprotein, so not sure if that's a isolate vs concentrate issue.

I was gearing up for an 11lb bag. I generally buy unflavored (for that wholesome whey taste) and mix it with overnight oats and brown sugar. Thanks for the warning!

What i was looking at on MYprotein for that price range was concentrate.
Which i'm sure is great too. And maybe preferable to many for the reasons you mentioned.

Afaik, isolate tends to be 90% protein vs. concentrate at around 80%

I buy the Glanbia Provon 292 isolate. which is for sure 90%
It helps that it's lower carb too, considering my LCHF way of eating.
I end up paying $6.80 lb for that. 90% no flavorings. Just the lecithin for mixability.
It's what's in a lot of branded products.
I also wouldn't be happy with the sucralose in most of the branded stuff.
But i'm a pretty partcular snowflake in that regard.

I haven't used any sweetener in anything in over a year now.

I don't know the exact average price, but I have paid that price on Black Friday (last year). Sign up for their mailing list. They send out promo codes every week basically.

I get impact whey in 11 lb bags. Not concentrate.

I don't think it matters when comparing the two prices, but unless i'mlooking at the wrong stuff, they say it's concentrate.
But as i said, i pay $6.80lb, so if this is correct, it's a wash either way with their pricing offers not shown.

I'll probably steal that recipe idea myself. I'm looking for new ways to take in whey without wanting to kill myself.

I might actually have gotten concentrate, I don't know. They do sell isolate though, and it is cheap with the promo codes that they send out all the time.

It's probably my bad @Manveer for searching poorly. I just saw impact and thought that's what you meant. Soz.
And 11lbs is surely easier to deal with than a 20 kilo bag :D

I do have all the nice screw top containers i need, but it's a a bit of work every time i get a new bag.

Do you have the lids bolted to the ceiling of your kitchen, with a trampoline underneath you use to bounce up and screw the tub into the lid whilst in midair?

I've been doing NOW unflavored concentrate 4ever... I just add 1/2T cocoa powder to each shake because I'm so tired of the sickly sweet taste of the rest of that stuff @d0uevenlift. (mention function not autoworking?)

Andy yeah, every time I venture to myprotein I'm like "WTF is everyone talking about $5/lb?!?"

@broseph Numerals in usernames mess with the mention function.

It's discussed in the later posts in this thread, but i haven't tried figuring out what they are talking about.
