asdf, That's what I order as well. Have you been finding the 5lb tubs of Now Isolate on Amazon? I'm only seeing the smaller tubs. Our Nov. subscription deliveries are delayed until January so far due to no supply. I'm good for about 6 weeks but considering ordering something smaller or a different brand if I have to when things run low.

I did see a 5# tub of isolate chocolate, sold directly from Amazon, which is a must for me (I don't do 3rd-party sellers). But I prefer unflavored, and a 10# bag of unflavored was less than two 5# tubs, so that's what I ordered.

They sent me they wrong flavor bag once but when I told them they sent me the right one for free. During the shipping apocalypse last year it took like two months to get an order but I wouldn't blame MP for that.

Generally MP concentrate is a little cheaper on sale than buying ON off amazon/walmart but not by much anymore (used to be able to get an 11lbs bag for like $40) the parent company got bought so expect price to go up and up as time goes by. Also never by MP unless its on sale, every couple weeks you can get a code to knock off 30-60%.

I've actually dropped complaints on their site about the price. It doesn't matter if you have OMG MONSTER SALE PRICES if your normal price is that sky-high. I can get Optimum Nutrition at Costco for 45-50$ for the 5.5 lb bag and it tastes better and has more protein per serving.

I arrived at the same conclusion after doing the math on Myprotein some time ago.

Now it seems like I might have a good reason to try that Salted Caramel flavor everybody raves about.

I didn't know about the parent company buyout. The narrowing of the price gap between MP and other brands (especially ON) makes more sense now.

I only buy MyProtein because it has been cheaper thnt he others with sales and tastes good, with low/no carbs. Price is everything. I'm okay with several brands, but I am not paying one penny more than I have to, and I will drop protein powder altogether if it stops being available at reasonable prices. I have ZERO brand loyalty. MP gets too pricey I move on to a different brand or drop it altogether. It's not a critical component, just a convenience thing.

I dunno if I could drop protein powder altogether. There's no way I could eat enough chicken in a day to replace it.

...

How well do the MP bag seals hold up? If I buy 11 lbs' worth, am I gonna need to transfer it into some big-ass container to avoid spoilage/clumping?

My wife is seriously anti bag of protein on the counter, so I have a container that she does not object to and fill it from the larger bag when it empties. The bag is in a separate cabinet and this way the seal only gets molested a handful of times, which has been no problem. I also have these plastic slider things that seal bags and slide on and off easily, they work on pretty much any bag, so if a seal goes bad I get one of those out.

The zippers on the MP bags are fine once you clean the powder out of them with your finger nail. I've had them misaligned though so maybe get a container or save a bag.

Can confirm all of this.

Also, I didn't quite notice the price creep until you guys pointed it out. Looking at my order history over the past 1.5 years proves you all painfully correct.

Thanks asdf. I DID see the chocolate (forgot to mention that) 5 lb tub. I'm only an unflavored guy 99% of the time (like to make my own concoctions) but that might have to change for now.

NOW creatine powder is out of stock on Amazon, and I couldn't find any other brand reasonably priced, so bought some from MyProtein. They're running a 45% off "sale", which dropped the price of the creatine under the free shipping amount. So I threw in an 11# bag of whey protein as well. #spaving

With Black Friday coming up, I'm confident holding out for a 55-60% discount on MyProtein next weekend to stock up on goodies.

They have already done two of those, another one starting today, and briefly there was a 60%. They are still getting too expensive.

I think I only got 45% off. Oh well.

How does MyProtein get away with these on-going "discounts" and "sales"? I thought fake pricing was illegal?

We probably have different tolerances/ expectations for what we consider to be 'too expensive' as I'm in the UK.

If I can get a 5kg bag of protein for £40-45 (typically ~60% off), it's a good day for me. Just waiting for some influencer (probably Eddie Hall) to fire up a 60% discount next week.

That's right around my "usual" best price from them with 55% off.
$57-$59 for 5kg/11lb

Got a code from slickdeals.net in late 2019 and ended up at $45 a bag. 5kg/11lb
Was holding out for another like that, but had to resupply at 55% off this time.
Got some iso for my wife with another slickdeals code that made it a similar price as concentrate, $58ish iirc.

I used to get 20 kilo bags from Bulk Supplements, no codes, easy to use.
But they skyrocketed the price on the big bags

I was getting it around $227, was lower at points, higher too.
I may have got it at sub $200 once.
In any case, it went up maybe two years ago, and stayed that way.
$463.96 for 20 kilos right now.

That's $115.99 for 11 lbs, and MP is using $159.99 as full price.
But i'm definitely glad they at least have the discounts as their business model.
I'd prefer just the straight discount price, but i'll jump through the hoops considering the alternatives.
