Re: BostonRugger's Training Log
Thanks! The volitional effort “cue” and the CWS breathing thing have led to a bit of a breakthrough for me.
Thanks! I’ve always dreamed that someone would someday say that to me.
Thanks, Manveer! You’ll be there soon (hope your back is ok, I read your log post). You still have like 150 lbs of total on me at a lower BW so...the jelly is all mine.
Thank ye!
Thanks!! BTW, I had wanted to say that as a soon to be dad, I like the concept of your blog. It’s good to be here with a bunch of strong dads doing strong dad stuff.
Thanks Cole! I’m happy as hell. I try not to let my lifting affect my mood too much, but this is freaking sweet. Feels great to see the last two months of gym work pay off. I spent a lot of time spinning my wheels, grinding too much and doing silly bullshit *cough cough* after NLP. It doesn’t have to be that way.

Re: BostonRugger's Training Log
Postscript: I also tested SVJ before I started lifting. They have a Vertec and I was the only one there so I figured I’d take a shot at it in an embarrassment free environment. First one went over the top (had 17 inches) of it so I raised it as high as I could reach and did one more. Just barely got 20”. Got measured at 25 in college, but that was 50 lbs ago.

Thanks for the kind words!BostonRugger wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2018 7:18 pmThanks!! BTW, I had wanted to say that as a soon to be dad, I like the concept of your blog. It’s good to be here with a bunch of strong dads doing strong dad stuff.
I didn’t start getting serious about my strength training until after my first was born in 2014. Now I’ve got 2 kiddos! Training can be tricky with kids so hopefully I can dedicate some more time for that blog.
I went to a SSC weekend seminar in 2015 but they pushed TM for ALL intermediates, which now we know is ridiculous! I found there wasn’t much out there for info on how to still keep training with so many demands on time/energy/recovery. I’m even a shift worker, same with my wife, so that complicates things further. Lol
This Exodus site wasn’t up yet when I started that blog but it seems to be doing a better job getting info out there than me haha! Even I’ve learned a lot from here since October.
Once again, great lifts!

Thanks @peez! My back (just fatigued) disagrees with you at the moment, but I’m pretty psyched to be making good progress.

I meant how long was this deadlift cycle? How long ago did you set the 565 PR?

Re: BostonRugger's Training Log
Haha I wasn’t sure what you meant so I took the lazy way out. 565 was a week ago. In the strength/technique block, the program calls for a single each week @9 on DL day. I’ve been making quick progress so that has amounted to a small PR each week.
My PR from last cycle was 550 on 10/29. It’s supposed to be a 9 week cycle, but each 1 week micro cycle takes me a little over 8 days on average.

Er...........I am reading this log for the first time, and welp, you never said you're one of the strongest people here..... Forget everything I've ever said about suits and ties and whatnot; from now on you're telling me what to wear.

Re: BostonRugger's Training Log
Thanks! But, no. There are some legitimately strong dudes (and dudettes) running around this place. I recognize that I’m stronger than most, but I’m also 29 years old, 255 lbs, married, childless (not for long) and jobless (not for long). Not sure I’ll ever be in such a training sweet spot again.stuffedsuperdud wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2018 9:22 pm Er...........I am reading this log for the first time, and welp, you never said you're one of the strongest people here..... I do appreciate the style advice. Seriously. I was facing unemployment as an expectant father. Scary as fuck. I knew I was well qualified for the job I landed, but walking in there looking good made me confident enough to talk that shit so that they knew it too.
