For me, having a goal independent of the number on the scale helps a lot. I never want to lose 20 pounds. What I want is to be able to play 80 minutes of rugby and to be in good enough condition to earn those minutes (and to be able to actually catch and get my hands on the 22 year old, fresh faced, just out of college, nothing to do but workout, drink and chase girls sumbitches that always seem to populate the opposing team every season). Losing the weight just kinda happens when I’m training for that.

I’d say set a goal that will lead to weightloss. Pickup basketball, a good 5k time (run the race, OP) or a lower weight class in a PL meet. I imagine it’s less mentally bleak than chasing a number on the scale or a certain physique.

Edit: I should've just said Make Cutting Fun Again.
