We should use our bulk posting powers to make The Michigan Thread the longest/most active on the forum.

Re: PSA For Michigan Folks
This thread, or is there some other Michigan thread?
Where can I complain about Shorts, I am strongly considering gutter pouring my third ever beer, Cozy Blanket. Noble Chaos and Cinnabilly are the only two beers I have ever just straight dumped. I think I could get through at least 2-3 sips of Cozy Blanket, though.
Or how about that heat wave? I wore a softshell jacket today.

Warm, but muggy. We got about 3 inches of snow. Fuckin' welcome back to work...Allentown wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2018 8:02 amThis thread, or is there some other Michigan thread?

Also, mother- and brother-in-law are in from CA this morning. I mentioned that it was snowing and be careful driving from the airport. MIL responded "Really? I wondered what that was"... I think she was joking.

Re: PSA For Michigan Folks
I’m not nearly as beery as you, @Allentown, but back when I kept a log of personal beer reviews, Shorts always received poor marks. I haven’t bought anything from them in a long time.
And this heat wave is rediculous, @damufunman. I shoveled the driveway in a T shirt and jeans this morning. Can’t wait to take a walk and a smoke this afternoon.

Shorts has some very good stuff, but a general weird flavor that I don't love pervades all their beers, and their experimentation with things like Strawberry Shorts Cake or Cinnabilly can be great (Strawberry) or terriblebroseph wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2018 8:17 am I’m not nearly as beery as you, @Allentown, but back when I kept a log of personal beer reviews, Shorts always received poor marks. I was expecting the snow to be way heavier when I shoveled our driveway, the street in front of our driveway, and my neighbors's stairs.

Truth be told, I think I’ve mostly sampled their novelty beers (like strawberry short cake, key lime, marshmallow something or other.)Allentown wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2018 8:20 am

Maybe I should try a few of their more standard offerings.

Let me do it.
@Root I think I’ve had Good Humans. The fact that I don’t remember it probably means I didn’t hate it. Reading the description makes me want it.

Re: PSA For Michigan Folks
I'm out. I MIGHT be able to do a meet in the fall, provided I can figure out how to deadlift without my back feeling like it is going to crumble to pieces.
I have not, but if I see it I will give it a shot. I had Soft Parade and Nicie at my wedding, and I'm always down for a Huma, but beyond those I just typically don't enjoy their beers. Perhaps I just don't mesh with their yeast. But I'm weird, I don't really like Founders all that much either. Lizard of Koz probably would have been a drain beer if my BIL wasn't super excited about letting me try it- it tasted like blueberry cough syrup. And for most of the Founders beers I've had, the best I can generally say for them is that it's a solid beer, and I enjoyed drinking it. But I can say the same about the in-house Hopcat beers, the BoB beers, Harmony beers, Mitten beers, New Holland beers, Atwater beers, Elk beers, Hideout beers... I'm trying to remember other breweries in a 2mi radius of Founders. Oh yeah, Creston, City Built (haven't been there, I need to go). They are all doing, basically, the same thing, and are generally solid. But for the most part, you could take about half the tap list of any of those, swap it with any other one, and probably wouldn't know that Mitten made it and not New Holland, or it was brewed by Harmony and not Founders. Well, probably Atwater and BoB, because they are a little more mediocre than the rest.

Re: PSA For Michigan Folks
Thanks for the shout @Root , didn't pop up in my notifications for whatever reason.
Man, it would be cool to meet you guys and embarrass myself lol. Just really not sure being in mega cut mode is conducive to quality strength training. Also convincing the wife it's a good idea to drop a few hundred scheckles and leave her for the day with child to do such a thing might prove to be difficult.
Wonder why the mitten state has such a strong contingency here? I would certainly be open to a meet in the future, just don't see April in the cards at the moment.
