Re: Gross injury video thread
I'm kinda debating in my head the value of that secondary mat they slide in during the routine.
I always thought that was cheesy.
If its more grippy, and more cushion-ey, I wonder if it contributed to her feet staying in place, and NOT simply kicking out forward.
I bet that mat is super tacky/grippy ...has to stay in-line with the out-of-bounds lines for judging, while its being landed on, etc.

Fucking painful... but fairly minor in the scheme of things (although the report of two fractures is more concerning)...spoken to more than a few who have suffered similar injuries (some multiple times) and the shock is often the "worse" part (relatively speaking)...
Having watched a lot of sports like Motor Racing etc I'd always prefer to see someone writhing around in pain / screaming etc...it's when they lie still you really worry...

Re: Gross injury video thread
I'd rather they stand up and walk away. Staying calm after an accident might just be the victim figuring out whats wrong, or playing it safe in case they suspect serious injuries they don't feel yet. Not that I disagree.ChrisMcCarthy1979 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2019 4:06 am Fucking painful... but fairly minor in the scheme of things (although the report of two fractures is more concerning)...spoken to more than a few who have suffered similar injuries (some multiple times) and the shock is often the "worse" part (relatively speaking)...

maybe he shoulda let the "nocebo effect" creep in and shut himself down just a bit there....lifter said: "“It turns out that two weeks ago my leg began to hurt badly. I thought that it was just pulled, so I did not pay attention, I just had painkillers, trained, prepared. I was also advised it would pass by itself, heal,”

Re: Gross injury video thread
It's all in your head until it turns out to really be in your leg since your bones are fractured and primed to snap if you don't let them heal.mbasic wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2019 12:22 pmmaybe he shoulda let the "nocebo effect" creep in and shut himself down just a bit there....lifter said: "“It turns out that two weeks ago my leg began to hurt badly. Re: Gross injury video thread
ehh...not a fan of that ultra wide stance he uses.
Any little thing goes wrong with an abb/adductors/stabilizers, and it seems your knee would automatically go into a weird valgus sideloading thing ... snap!
in this case: snap snap

Re: Gross injury video thread
I saw the still pictures, didn't watch the video. His stance looks like he ought to be wearing a squat suit.

Re: Gross injury video thread
Hope his recovery goes well...the leg is an upsetting injury but at least his head / neck / back seems to be OK?

Re: Gross injury video thread
Well, thank you for those nightmares.
His knees looked less valgus than in the still shots I saw.
It certainly looks like his femur just snapped. What a horrible thing to have happened.

Deleted. I didn't realize I was responding to a months old post. (One problem of the site not keeping track of read items.)
