@Hanley @CodyHow to get your hands on a V3
If you aren't familiar with the V3 launch process, here's the best practices.
-Be there ON TIME. To be specific, January 22nd at 8 PM EST. Do not expect them to be available for long. With OpenBarbell, the early bird gets the worm. When the countdown hits zero, we hit the button. The product page is in our web store.
-Have PayPal ready. We've heard from customers who got to checkout and couldn't get PayPal to process the payment. If you're using an existing account make sure you have no login problems. If you're using a guest account, have your card of choice and any requisite verification information prepared.
-Be patient. We receive a lot of traffic in a short amount of time and our website sometimes can't cut it. You can rest assured that we'll be here in our Brooklyn office with our web service provider on standby, putting out fires.
-The way our cart system works, if a customer doesn't finish the checkout process within two minutes their cart contents are put back in general stock. So if we're sold out and it's within an hour of launch it may be worth sticking around.

Hmmm.. I may jump in on this.
Then I can sell my v1.0 (has the upgraded cable, clip, magnetic roller, etc) but unfortunately the screen went out so I have to use my phone/bluetooth to see my lift data.

Bump
I can’t match the fast twitch reflexes of Hanley, so my only hole of getting one is competition.

Well, looks like I'll be up at 2 AM. Thanks a lot Manveer (only half sarcastic there).
Would/will this be the page to be on? http://squatsandscience.com/product/openbarbell-v3/
I don't know, he's getting old. I might have a shot.

Re: OpenBarbell v3 on sale again
Seems pretty pricey for a string attached to a shaft with a couple Hall effect sensors on it and some reasonably straightforward math.
It occurs to me that there is almost certainly the expertise to design and build such a device on this forum.
But more power to them for designing and putting the thing out there!

You're not the first person to have that thought on the forum.tersh wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2018 12:34 am Seems pretty pricey for a string attached to a shaft with a couple Hall effect sensors on it and some reasonably straightforward math.

These guys have changed the game on bar speed trackers. Used to be $2k+ for a Tendo or GymAware. This is an order of magnitude cheaper.
Also, everything is open source, so you could conceivably build your own to their plans.
I'm sure there was a lot of time and effort spent on the design and choosing the right components. Not to mention all the testing.

I do applaud their open source approach. That's pretty cool, and absolutely worth supporting. Especially if they are doing it on the hardware.Manveer wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2018 4:52 am You're not the first person to have that thought on the forum.

A Tendo or what have you costing that much more is really pretty ridiculous, but doable when you're the only game in town, I guess.
