I have a log over at BBM as well, but twice the logs = twice the accountability, right? Right? Let's see how this goes.

This is how I've modified Hanley's Montana Method template to accomodate my sport. I'm just in the second week, so we'll see how it goes. Questions, comments, and advice all appreciated.

SGDL (Or Farmers Walk)
2-3x8-10@50% of DL 1RM

For the "Log Press(Jerk)" does that mean you dip, push, and drop to catch it?

Yep. Not stronk enough to just grind it up. (Oops, I said the G word.)

The most I’ve ever jerked is 245, and the most I’ve ever strict pressed is 190x1@PrettyGirlisWatching, so I need the practice.

6/13
Log Push Press
160x4,4,4,3,3,3,3 with about 2:00 rest

Squat
285x4,4,4,3,3,3,3

Both of these felt surprisingly easy, especially considering how much dirt I shoveled and wheelbarrowed around today.

6/14 Garage Days revisited

Press: 10 min block
125x34. Blerg. I guess all that shoveling and wheelbarrow-ing has more of an effect than I thought.

Curls
Some x a few because I’m taking the little goblins to the pool. #fightthedadbod

220x1: pretty fast. RPE is hard to figure with quicklifts, but I didn’t have to press it out.

SSB Squat
Screw guessing, I’m gonna figure am e1RM to work with.

190x3
230x3
280x1
300x1@9. ERM 315

Beltless SGDL (cuz it’s 90 and wet outside and wet tire =torn bicep.
Also, I can use the shrug bar and save my junk.

DB curl
15,20,25,30,35x6 and back down the rack. Because I’m an idiot and do these just often enough to not adapt and get really sore.

Farmers handles should be here on the 27th! Gotta head to play it again and get two more 45s.

Each of those done in under 25 minutes. Jesus Christ, @Hanley

DB row:
85x50 in 10:00. Low back has got the bad pump. Shit. Even threw on a belt for the SSB and used the bench for rows and it still hurts. Hopefully better for tomorrow with the new farmers implements.

DB Bench:
Some x a few for the tittays.

6/21 MY FARMERS HANDLES ARE HERE!

Press
115x5
135x3
150x1,1
165x1(8.5) I gear-whored up for this baby weight, which is embarrassing, but whatever.

130x6,6,6,6 (7:00)

Farmers. I only have enough weight to go up to 180/hand right now, but I can do volume and practice turns.
180x120’ x2 beltless to make up for lack of weight.

Wanted to do another one, but wife called and wanted tacos. Tacos always win. Apparently my pic of my farmers is too big to attach. Not sure how to fix that.

6/23

“You like lifting heavy things! Wanna help me move?”

2 1/2 hours later....

Log
140x3
165x2
180x1,1
200x1
215x1. Never in doubt, but harder than it should have been. Explosiveness is the first thing to go.

Squat
245x3
285x3
315x1,1
335x1
370x1(6.5?) as always, felt kinda slow, then looked at it on video and it looked like a warm up.

SGDL. Because I don’t want to go outside to flip the tire. Lack of explosiveness + tire = yuck.

6/24- Sunday fun day

Backwards prowler sled drag. I need to build up my legs and upper back and this seems like a way to get more work for the ol’ trapezoids and quadrilaterals without killing myself. Maybe. It’s hard to judge the correct amount of work. It could be that I don’t feel these at all tomorrow or I could have no pop in my push presses. We shall see.

Giving my back a break and not doing any Oh work or DL
Squat
Up to 375x1@8.5
390x1@9.75? I don’t like using that. I could have gotten 400 probably?

Bench
Up to 275x1@9.75. Form went to shit with my hands too wide, which for me means pinky on the ring. Bar drifted back over my face and arms winged out until triceps could take it.
275x1@9. Pinkies ~1” in from ring. Felt tighter.

Was hoping for an Austin-style low stress with A PR, but meh. Shouldn’t be surprised since these were the two lowest-priority big-lifts in my program.

In better news, I get to accompany 50 of our students to DC again this Oct! It’s an awesome trip lavishly paid for by Herb Kohl, and our students love it.

Low stress week continues.

Clean and Press. I wish I didn’t have to clean each rep, but whatever. These little weights aren’t going to contribute to my back fatigue.
115x3,3
135x2
155x1
170x1@9. It was an easy 9, but my next jump with the plates I have would be 185, and that would pretty much be a max.

135x25 in 7:00

Skipping Farmers and/or sled drag because of low stress week. Aaaaaand I have to go get more flag stones for the patio.

6/30. Finishing up low stress week.

Deadlift:
405x1 fast.
425x1@7
405x2@6

Brought my feet in even closer (5” apart or so) and felt better. Ready to start real pulls next week.

Inc CG Bench (because the racks were taken. Probably good to keep me from some push pressing).
Up to 205x1@9
165x5,5,5,5

Still on the racks, so
Straight bar T-Row
45x8
90x8,8
135x8,8

These actually felt pretty good. Usually I don’t feel anything good from rows, but I like these.

Back when I read stuff there more often, someone at EFS (Clint Darden?) recommended comp movements one day a week on its own day, I think pressing 3/week (2 log/overhead, 1 bench), deadlifting 2x, squatting once.
I looked at my schedule for the summer, and I have 6 weeks to run the MM until a vacation-week, and then three weeks to peak for the contest. I think I'll follow your suggestion of going a little more traditional to increase work capacity. Something like:
M:
Log strength
SSB volume
Seated row for heavy AMRAPs to simulate seated truck pull. Aim for 25-30 second sets.

W:
Deadlift
Bench
Front Squat

T:
Press
Sled drag

S:
Log power
Tire flip (2 runs)
Then drive home, and
Farmers Walk (2 runs)

7/2
Log Press
145x3
165x2
185x1,1
205x1
220x1.

Missed 220 because I got misgrooved, but got it without having to re-clean. ....And maybe because I was standing for three hours at the Dave Matthews concert last night. Shut up, my wife likes them.

SSB Squat
225x5,5,5,5,5,5

Bench Press
205x8,8,8,8

Still stronger with a closer grip (pinkies 1” in from the ring) than with a wider grip.

7/4- Put out milk and cookies for Captain America tonight!

Log push press:
155x5,5,5,5,5,5,5
I’m gonna have to ask people what they do when this gets heavy enough to need 4-5 min rest to complete. Drop to 5x5, or is that too TM? Keep the weight steady until it’s easier?

Deadlift:
425x1@7
