The new season of The Great British Baking Show/Bake-off is pretty good. It's only lesser in comparison to the original BBC seasons. The chemistry between the hosts, and the balance of the judges just isn't as good as the original cast. But it's not a bad show, and captures the fundamentals of the previous seasons. I'd recommend it, though if you haven't seen any of the show and are interested, I'd start at the beginning.

I’m seeing a lot of negative reviews, but I loved it.
We're only a few episodes in but really digging it so far. And this is where I reiterate that you would love The Leftovers...

My wife kept watching after I lost interest somewhere around the end of season 3. I walked in on the middle of a newer episode, and I couldn't handle the new hosts, at all. The dude host was wearing some sort of light blue OBD, except it went down to his knees. I wanted the show to explain WTF was going on with that shirt instead of focusing on how hard it was to bake in a tent when it is raining outside, again, because that's the only real conflict in that show.

Yeah, no personal drama at all, it's all about the baking.

I want some wildcards. Make them solve a murder mystery or something while baking.

Have been watching Brooklyn 99 on Hulu. Funny show. Same creators as Parks and Rec and although it's a different show it's equally funny.

We watched that with our 2 year old daughter... When the episode first started, it was fine iirc, so we thought, this is okay for her. Then that scene starts, and we're like "Uh..." As it unfolds, I'm scrambling to get the remote working on my phone for the fire tv to work so I can turn it off while my wife picks her up to take her out of the room. For days she remarked how the snakes were being "not nice." Parenting fail.

Important question: Why the use of the 4 star metric versus the standard 5 star metric?

Good enough for Ebert, good enough for me. Alternatively, because it was better than 3/5 but not as good as 4/5 and I didn't want to use fractional stars.

I sure miss that. Or maybe I just miss that era of my life? Thanks for the introspection, Root.

I bet those snakes wish they'd evolved legs right now. That iguana is a friggin' superhero.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure snakes used to have legs, and they evolved away from them. Or, rather, their ancestors had legs.

No no, Jesus took away their legs because a snake once told a woman to eat an apple. Fun fact, this incident is also why it's ok to be shitty to women:

"Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee."

Neat!

Big Mouth Season 2
Daredevil Season 3
Making a Murderer Part 2

All in the next few weeks... been watching AHS: Cult lately... the writers are absolutely bonkers and it's as funny as it is depressing to watch as an anarchist...
