Re: Australians
Picked up an ATX SSB on gumtree today. Being awake at 2am with a newborn does allow for plenty of gumtree stalking so I jumped on it when it came up. Thankfully the wife was happy to call it an early Christmas present.

Looks like a nice bar!
I think my equipment purchases are slowing down for the year.
Might grab the Verve safety straps for my rack and then that’ll be it

Re: Australians
Nice! I've been pretty happy with mine.
You can get lucky on Gumtree sometime. Some of you might've seen me post it elsewhere but I picked up a Megatec leg press brand new (still in the boxes) this week for quite a bit less than retail... all I had to do was arrange freight from Vic but luckily I knew a guy.
Got it early this week, built it, used it for the first time yesterday. Pretty happy with it really, it's not as nice/smooth to use as the full commercial leg press it replaced, but it takes up a helluva lot less space and is much easier on my lower back.

Sorry to hijack, but would you recommend the ATX SSB? The UK distributer is out of stock but I’m tempted to buy one alongside a lay pulldown machine when it’s back in stock.BenM wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2019 3:20 pmNice! I've been pretty happy with mine.

Re: Australians
For my part, yes. Aside from it's odd weight (mine has 17kg stamped on it) I've been really happy with it, and I use it all the time. I've only used one other SSB though (and that was a pretty old, beat up thing at a commercial facility, no idea what brand it was).Wayne wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2019 12:20 amSorry to hijack, but would you recommend the ATX SSB? Re: Australians
@BenM you could always load 3kg on it before you add any other weight so you don't need to worry about funky maths and plate loading as you work up in weight. This is what I do with my Verve Elite SSB which comes in at 27kg, whenever I use it I simply preload 3kg and away I go.

Re: Australians
I've always been impressed with the quality of ATX gear, and while the construction quality on the Aussie Strength SSB I had was good, it always annoyed me slightly that they didn't offset the handles. Probably a luxury spend, but I figured that it was worth $130 to upgrade to the ATX bar (ATX was $250, but I sold my AS SSB so made half of that back).

Re: Australians
@Sumo kinda wish I'd thought of that... it's just become second nature now to warm up with 17 - 57 - 97... plus it would totally annoy me to take the microplates off and put them back on again for every weight change, surely you don't leave them on the inner part of the sleeve and throw the bigger plates on top? My OCD would not allow that!

Re: Australians
That's exactly what I do, I load 3x .5kg plates on each side first and then the 20s etc. I'm pretty bad with wanting things to look just right, but in this case it's still uniform enough that I can live with it especially since it saves me time during the workout.BenM wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2019 7:37 pm @Sumo kinda wish I'd thought of that... it's just become second nature now to warm up with 17 - 57 - 97... plus it would totally annoy me to take the microplates off and put them back on again for every weight change, surely you don't leave them on the inner part of the sleeve and throw the bigger plates on top? I just pretend that all my speciality bars weigh 20kg (or for ones like the ez-bar 0kg). It's not like anybody but me sees my log anyway.

Re: Australians
Verve have got roller J cups and Sandwich J cups up on the site.
I should have some photos tomorrow if them ring sent through.
I wanted Sandwich style but the roller ones seem like they’d be super handy.
$175 for each so not overly expensive.
I am hoping they’ve changed the style of protective plastic they’re using as the standard ones don’t stand a chance with the Ohio power bar knurling.

Re: Australians
Argh, I just decided to start saving for a Rogue Deadlift Bar. Welp, I just need to be strong and wait it out, I planned to buy the bar this year but I caved a few times and bought other things. 2020 will be my year for sure, lol.InsideOutside wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2019 2:18 am Verve have got roller J cups and Sandwich J cups up on the site.

Re: Australians
Did Rogue just jack up their prices? I recall the Deadlift bar going for $460 or so and the 20kg Power bar was over $500... now the Deadlift bar is $550 vs $525 for the Power Bar

Re: Australians
@sumo the OPB has gone down in price but it does look like the deadlift bar had a big bump up.
