Unread Posts
When using my notifications for new posts or the 'Unread Posts' link next to a thread title, it always takes me to posts from March 2018 instead of my actual first unread post. If the thread is younger than March 2018, it links to the first post.
And if I take any time at all to make a post, The submitted form was invalid when I try to submit.

Re: Unread Posts
Fortunately, i've always been able to just hit the submit button again, and not have to retype my posts.

Re: Unread Posts
Possibly because the forum software thinks all of the posts are unread posts? That’s my guess. When I go to forums with older threads and I know that I’d read the last post before the site went down, it shows the thread as being unread again.broseph wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 10:22 am When using my notifications for new posts or the 'Unread Posts' link next to a thread title, it always takes me to posts from March 2018 instead of my actual first unread post. Re: Unread Posts
It seems tied to how long it takes to make the post. A quick reply goes through without a problem, but if you take a few minutes you get the error. I think it used to take something like 2 hours for that to happen (I type my log posts in real time).slowmotion wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 11:11 amYes, I get that fault too. But only about half my posts are invalid.

Re: Unread Posts
If you re-read-through a thread, the software seems to at least remember the last page you were on. But when going to ‘Unread Posts,’ it links to the top of that page instead of the new post.mgil wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 12:34 pmPossibly because the forum software thinks all of the posts are unread posts? I'm glad it's not just me.
I will try logging out and clearing all cookies to see if that helps....
I'm wondering if the invalid posts thing is because the session timeout might have been set to a really low value as one of the 'optimisations' to keep HostGator happy.

Re: Unread Posts
I have been having the same problem.
I just took this forum (Requests and Issues), marked all read, reloaded the page and they indeed showed as all read. I then logged out, cleared my browser cache (Firefox), closed the browser and restarted it. When I logged back in, this forum and all the others I read today, were again showing as unread.

Re: Unread Posts
It could be that the host changed some kind of cache setting when they brought the site back up.

Re: Unread Posts
I still get the invalid post thing, but as long as the forum is up and I can still post by pressing submit again I have decided that it will be good for my mental health to try to ignore it. Even tho it is extremely annoying. < breathe in .... breath out ...>
And while we are at it complaining, notifications doesn't seem to work?

Re: Unread Posts
I’m also having the issue with the forum not remembering which posts I’ve read. I get the error when posting but I can just click submit again and it goes through.

Re: Unread Posts
I'm just happy to be here, and i know we'll eventually be on another host.
But...
Forums where i've read or cleared all the posts, keep showing red again when there are no new threads or posts.
Honestly, i only mention it for the record.
I'm happy justt leaving things as they are, rather than causeing dOuevenlift any more grief than he's already gone through for us.

Re: Unread Posts
I think some of the optimization tuning is likely the cause here. Each feature burns a little more CPU and our friendly webhost has locked us down twice for CPU usage.

None of these things are worse than having no site.
From the outside, i am definitely of the opinion we just leave things be.

Yeah, I was torn between "thank you for your service" and "it isn't working right."Wilhelm wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 7:10 am I'm just happy to be here, and i know we'll eventually be on another host.

I used private messaging for the thanks, public forum for the complaint. "Progress pics" still go directly to @mgil.

Yeah, I'm just happy the forum is up again. Me complaining is just me being a grumpy old geezer.
