Female Stress Urinary Incontinence
also known as: peeing while you lift
Happens to a lot of women. Although SUI is not a normal occurrence, it is still a common occurrence in women who lift or train. The "traditional" demographic for SUI is older women who have had (multiple) children. But many female lifters who are young (under 45) and haven't had children experience SUI. Myself included!

It's good to see people talking about this openly and maturely.

Personally, I find that pads are better than the period underwear. Sometimes I leak on heavy deadlifts when I pull with a rounded back. Squats sometimes as well, depending on my hormonal cycle.

Most of the women I know use pads. One woman I trained with was a 6 time world champ, and she had this issue. She forgot her pad one day and there was a minor incident. We both didn't make a big deal about it. Being in powerlifting for 5 years, I've seen stuff way weirder that that.chromoly wrote:Personally, I find that pads are better than the period underwear. I recall someone talking about how this wasn't a problem when they were using a menstrual cup.
I can't remember if it was in person, or online.
But yeah, it makes sense to me.

Makes sense, especially if you wear one of the firmer cups designed for athletic women. I have a harder time peeing when I'm wearing mine due to the pressure it puts on the urethra. I wouldn't count on it to stop full-on incontinence, but I can see how it would help with little leaks.

Icon Pee-Proof Underwear
I don't know how well they work, but they seem to hold a lot without being bulky.

Possibly some kind of bamboo fibre? I've used similar things in sheets and it works quite well.
